Breathing life into an old classic - Quake
Sometimes the old ways are better than the new.

One of the benefits of building a modern gaming rig is that some clever people have rebuilt the main program to benefit from the latest tech advances.
Since the mid 1990’s I have been a huge Quake fan. The original was always my favorite of the series, and considering that it was designed for SVGA resolutions, and to run without hardware 3D acceleration, the modern enhancements bring a ton to the game. A few years ago, Night Dive studios partnered with ID Software to re-release the game with a lot of modern touches, but at its core, it was still the same game.
But it was just before the ray tracing revolution, and fortunately a modder rebuilt the executable and extended it with ray tracing enabled. And it is glorious.
