Farm to Taber: Once again, Sarah tells the truth
Why do farmers vote Republican? Is it a kinship, a belief in hardy conservative values? Nah, it's because Republicans give them more $$$
I know I have written about this Youtube creator, Sarah Taber, who gives a candid take on farms, and agri-business, and she brings the goods.
Today, she's dropped another gem, "Why Farmers Voted For Trump: Free Government Money".
In this she goes into the economics, and the rationalization that is quite different than people think of when they idolize the myth of the "Family Farmer". The truth is that owning a farm is a great way to be quite wealthy (particularly in their communities) and while in the early to mid 20th century there were concerns, concerns that led to crop price support, and heavy government diddling in the market. Hell, to this day, they prop up milk production.
Anyhow, she walks through how just weeks into the second Trump administration the expectation was that the government handouts were going to be bountiful.
And, she also goes into how the progressive left's complaints that these handouts were not going to "family farms" but to large, corporate agribusinesses. That is also bullshit. Many of those mammoth farm businesses are ... family owned. In fact more than 75% of all farms are "family farms", but the left's accusation that the money is going to "millionaires" is true. Turns out that large family farms, medium family farms, and small family farms are chock-a-block with millionaires.
Sarah then goes on to explain the agriculture support (aka "Welfare") from the government is higher under Republicans than Democrats. And that is why 70+% of farmers vote straight Republican.
