Music: A chilling medley by Rush

A bad day at work, and some uplifting music to counter. Here's Rush, playing a medley of their most recognizable riffs.

Music: A chilling medley by Rush
From Billboard

I have a long history with Rush[1], where I love their music, but it is not something that am a superfan of.

Sure, I learned Working Man in the way back time when I was taking guitar lessons, because, well it is just a killer riff, and when you are beginning to improvise lead breaks and solos, it is one of the all-time best jams.

And I have a deep reverence for the concept album 2112, released in 1976 (?!?!?!?) whose title track is chilling from the opening blasts to the trailing off of:

My spirits are low, in the depths of despair
My lifeblood
Spills over….

At many times in my life, I will admit that I have felt that level of despair (like yesterday sadly).

But a superfan? Nah. Back in my concert going days (the 1980's and early 1990's) I never caught a show, and they rolled through the SF Bay Area often enough. I did see Pink Floyd twice, The Scorpions, Van Halen (that was a disappointing show, sorry), Iron Maiden (too many times to count), Metallica, Y&T, Gary Moore, and many many others.

But Rush never made my hit list.

Today, on YT, I saw this teaser: RUSH: Best Intro EVER!!! Eleven and a half minutes, and since it was 3:30 AM, I figured why not.

Holy hell, it is a tour de force of their catchiest riffs, packaged into a seamless wall of audible bliss. Geddy, Alex and Neil just doing their thang.

Put on some headphones, click on this, and lose yourself in familiar tunes for eleven minutes.
