Music: Andy Timmons still has it

A great player you have likely never heard of before

Sweaty is going to tell a story. In the way back, the glory days of hair metal, there were plenty of top shelf bands that were slaying. But the real heroes were the second-tier bands that toured as opening acts and basically delivering music that was pretty solid, but almost never got any airplay.

Yeah, the 1970’s and 1980’s radio was pretty borked with payola and gatekeeping that helped reinforce the ladder of talents.

Enter Andy Timmons. Andy’s band in that era was Danger Danger, and if you actually heard them, and remember them, well, you probably should schedule a colonoscopy.

Danger Danger opened for a lot of the major acts like Kiss in the 1980’s, and it is a true shame they didn’t get a lot more airplay, because the guitar playing was just tasty.

And it was tasty because of Andy’s playing.

Like most of that era’s players, they never really retired, they just keep on writing and releasing music, but they also have matured from shred-meisters into solid, rounded musicians that deliver the goods.

Andy is on the cusp of a new release, and boy-howdy is it just ripping.

The sad thing is that all my idols from the era are now late middle-aged dudes, and whilst they aren’t hopping around in leopard print spandex, they still have the gravitas to lay it all out.

Hope you enjoy this gem!
