Music Appreciation: Glen Campbell

While I am not a fan of the Country/Western genre, there are plenty of greats from the classic eras that stand out. One is Glen Campbell

A slightly different post today on music. You may have assumed that I am a dyed in the wool hard rock/metal/classic rock head, but that is not really true. I enjoy most things around stringed instruments (with a heavy bias towards guitars), and that pretty much opens all genres to my ears.

And my collection sitting on my Plex server is full of eclectic titles by a lot of odd artists who had their moment in the sun.

But one genre I have virtually nothing of in my collection is Country.

Not long ago, Youtube tossed a video of Glen Campbell in my feed, and wow.

Oodles of talent? - check

Looks the part? - check

Long career with tons of great things? - check

Seriously, search for some of the videos he did with Roy Clark and just be prepared for your jaw to drop.

But what I have to share today is Glen with an orchestra behind him playing the Mason WIlliams standard Classical Gas.

I can string together a few of the themes, but never put the work in to really get it down. After hearing this, I might have to dust off the tablature, and get to working.

Hope you enjoy this:
