Music Appreciation: Jeff Beck

I know I have written about him before, but today I had this ethereal other-worldly tune pop up. It justifies another trip down memory lane

Last year, we lost a truly great musician, the iconic Jeff Beck, who left us much to be appreciative for. His touch, grace and just tasteful music is a treasure to be savored like a fine wine.

Here’s what I wrote shortly after his passing:

Influences: Jeff Beck
The recent passing of one of the true greats spurred a riffing through my collection for his music. I am sad to say that my collection was rather thin, comprised of a box set of the Yardbirds (and that is a deep well of amazing music), and his second solo album “Blow by Blow” released in 1974,

This morning, while doing my morning ritual, reading the news while listening to some blathering on Youtube, I saw this video come up, and suddenly I had to focus 100% on it.

Probably from a live show 15 or so years again, he is playing for a smallish audience, and it is playing “Goodbye Pork Pie Hat” a tribute to Mingus.

The playing is just next level, and during the recording, you see the camera pan to the audience, capturing no other than Robert Plant enjoying the show.

I hope you click on this and enjoy this 6:15 on a Friday.
