Music: Mediterranean Sundance with elan

Al Di Meola, doing what he does with his inimitable style and flair. Joined by stellar musicians from the Valencia campus of Berklee, this was a magical performance.

Music: Mediterranean Sundance with elan

It's been a minute since I posted any music, but then this delightful performance of Mediterranean Sundance/Rio Grande, the epic tune that Al Di Meola played so often with Paco de Lucia (and even with John McLaughlin).

It is a piece de resistance with an intensity that borders on manic.

Here, it is performed at the Valencia Spain arm of the Berklee school of music (I have see the building in the background, it is the capstone of this post, a beautiful building in person). It is played with many non-traditional instruments, including the Oud, and the accordion.

Al was there to receive an honorary doctorate, and one where he truly is deserving of the honor.

I hope you enjoy this delightful performance as much as I did!
