Music: Nori Bucci

The fact that Nori Bucci is almost unknown is criminal. Her talent and skills are off the charts.

In my trawling of Youtube for music, a month or two ago, I stumbled upon some raw vids of a band called Drive, and the videos were from a re-opening of a bar called Couzins in Buffalo NY.

They were your typical videos from a small (not smokey, sorry, that disappoints, the small venue experience has to have warming Bud Light and tobacco smoke wafting through the air) neighborhood bar. A place similar to my Friday and Saturday nights in the 1980's era, where I once saw Gary Moore live so close I could almost touch him. Or the Keystone Palo Alto where every NYE I would gape in awe watching Ronnie Montrose play.

Sorry, I lost the thread there.

Anyhow, this band – Drive – had the chops. It is a trio, Drummer, Bass, and Guitar. It was the guitar that blew me away. A woman on stage, long dark hair, so long that it practically covered her face, and blistering chops. Playing killer covers, and some originals.

Turns out the guitar player's name is Nori Bucci, and she's in the Buffalo area. On her credits, she was one of a string of guitar players for a Buffalo area Prog Rock band titled Gamalon. Alas, their albums were all recorded in the early to mid 1990's long before her tenure.

Too bad.

There is one self recorded album I found on Apple Music, "Tales of a Dream" and it is ethereal and entrancing.

But I can find NOTHING else.

I did stumble across one of the band members from Gamalon who had posted videos from shows, and this is one in that 2005-2009 era:

Nori's playing is superb. Her touch and ability to make it fit is poetry.

Here's a video of her with Drive, playing one of my all time favorite tunes, and followed with another barn stormer Locomotive Breath/Satch Boogie:

(Sorry, the YT embed barfed, trust me that's worth the watch)

Nori deserves the love, and should have a discography. Her playing is that good.
