Music: Rush's 2112

Picture yourself, at a small-ish venue in 1976. You are watching this new band named Rush, and they say they have time for one more song.

You would be happy with a three minute, thirty second radio friendly tune.

Instead, they whip out their 16 minute magnum opus, the title track of their new album, 2112.

Fuck yeah, that would be awesome.

December 11, 1976, at the Capitol Theatre, that is precisely what happened.

I wasn’t there, but fortunately the cameras were rolling, and whilst it is not the best quality black and white, the sound is quite good for the era, and thoroughly enjoyable.

I do recommend clicking through and listening to all sixteen minutes.

They don’t write them like that anymore!
