Music: Shine on you Crazy Diamond - Atom Pink Floyd
A killer cover of a Floyd classic, this band nails the feel and the intent of the original. It is great to see the music being kept alive!
I have been practically bedridden for a week with this gnarly cold that is finally beginning to show signs of wanting to go the fuck away.
There has been so much in the news that really isn't fun to watch, so I have been tuning my Youtube feed for killer tunes.
This morning, a (Portuguese?) Pink Floyd cover band popped up with a cover of Shine on You Crazy Diamond from the 1975 album "Wish You Were Here". The band says that this 6 part song was an ode to their original guitarist, Syd Barrett who pretty much demolished his brain with psychadelics in the 1960's, before David Gilmour joined the band.
Anyhow, at nearly 20 minutes, this rendition is not just faithful, but it is mesmerizing. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.
That was masterful. Now, a little dessert. Steve Lukather (of Toto fame) and his cover of one of the parts of Shine on You Crazy Diamond:
Brilliance!
