Music: Sutej Singh
From the Indian sub-continent, Sutej delivers killer progressive jams with panache
This morning (Sunday, January 12) I was doing my usual trawling around Youtube for my morning listening enjoyment when this video for Sutej Singh. While I am not a stranger to Indian players (c.f. Mohini Dey) it is not where I expect great progressive rock guitarists from the subcontinent.
When the music kicks in, I hear something in the vein of 1980’s Steve Vai, or early Dream Theater (John Petrucci).
What I do hear is great composition, outstanding chops, and for a live venue, absolutely amazing production values.
Sutej has a website — here — where you can learn more, and he does have recordings out on the major streaming services.
A (presumably Sikh) beturbaned man, rocking a killer beard, standing on stage with a killer drummer and bass player just delivering amazing riffs and licks.
