Music: The Band Geeks
Covid era collabs were wierd, but wonderful. Here the Band Geeks do an outstanding rendition of Yes' "Roundabout". 9 minutes of joy for your eardrums.
I went to high school a long time ago. Class of '83. Back then, there were cliques that had names and were semi-formal.
There were the Drama kids, the Shop Boys (I know that is sexist, but metal/wood/auto shop was a true sausage fest), the "stoners"[1], and the band kids.
I was in none of these, but I was on a college prep track mainly because I was really good at maths and sciences.
Band was for the school marching band, so all the instruments needed to play a John Phillips Souza march on the field at our football games.
Today's find is a band called simply "The Band Geeks", and I have been grooving on some of their covers. Good stuff, well produced, and fun.
Now, for an aside. During the height of the Covid restrictions, there was a thing where bands and miscelaneous musicians would collaborate separately to come together as a video and posted to Youtube. And it is one of the collaborations by the aforementioned Band Geeks that I am sharing with you.
I have mentioned repeatedly in these pages that there are some songs that I will always stop and listen to. Locomotive Breath (Tull), Working Man (Rush), Green Grass and High Tides (Outlaws). One I haven't mentioned is Roundabout by Yes.
This cover of Yes' "Roundabout" is true top-shelf, A-one cover. Check it out and let me know what you think...
