So much winning: Health Incident ... (tariffs)

A trip to the grocery store and a state of shock. Boy, all this "winning" is getting expensive.

No, not that kind.

Yesterday, I took a short break (I work mostly from home) to go grab some groceries. I had a slight flare up of gout (it sucks, but not much I can do about it) so I navigated to the aisle where juices are stocked to buy the placebo I usually use – Cherry Juice. It also happens to be the aisle where coffee and teas are stocked.

I took a glance at my usual brew: Pete's Major Dickason Blend.

10.5 oz bag, that was about $9.50 last time I bought it (I usually pick it up at Costco in the 2# size) at the grocery store.

$16.99

I passed out, fell down, and knocked myself out, rushed to the hospital and now I am under concussion protocols.

Ok, being serious, the costs of the tariffs are beginning to be front and center, and it is going to become very painful for a lot of people. Sure, I am late in career, at about the peak of my earning potential, so nearly doubling the cost of my daily caffeine fix isn't going to really impact me (yes, it will annoy me), but a lot of people will be decimated by it.

I do all the grocery shopping in our household, so I have a pretty good reference price on what things cost. And it is getting ridiculous. Coffee is almost double. A bag of chips that used to be about $2, is now $4.50. Eggs are no longer $10 a dozen, they are down to $8, but that is more due to the flocks of layers being rebuilt after the bird flu culling that hurt Biden.

I figured I would waltz over to the meats counter and see what is up there. Ground beef at $10 a pound (75% lean, the 93% lean was $12 a pound). Ribeye's, USDA grade "Choice" was $27 a pound. I don't eat much beef anymore (my body doesn't digest red meat good anymore, yay). I used to get USDA Prime for $17 a pound, and I thought that was ludicrous. Oh, how naive I was.

Now, I did mention that I buy my coffee in bulk at Costco. The 2# bags there were $12, and now they are almost $20. I know that this is large due to the obscene tariffs imposed on Brazil because the Tangerine Turd-blossom thinks they are being unfair to his acolyte Jair Bolsonaro.

Buckle up, it's gon' get bumpy. The tariffs are beginning to bite.

Let me know in the comments what is the most egregious price increase you've seen.
