Some truth from a Farmer

Farmers knew what they were voting for, and they expected a round of bailouts, and some backtracking by Trump. But so far, they are boned. Good.

Some truth from a Farmer
Awww poor baby...

In my journeys I stumble across a variety of channels on Youtube, and occasionally, I click on one that I am not sure of. In general, I avoid things that seem too click-baity, but this was on the edge. The thumbnail was simple: We knew Trump would ruin us.

And I have read (and posted) about the big sadz that farmers of staple crops primarily targeted for export are whinging about their soybean crops being unsold, causing a lot of grief.

Break out the tiny violins: Soybean farmers in distress
Gee farmers who voted for Trump are stuck with a soybean crop that they can’t sell and are facing ruin. And water is wet!

Anyhow, I stumbled across this by Farmer Taber, an actual farmer, and a Democrat who ran for Agriculture Commissioner in North Carolina in 2024, and her take on this.

Her take is that Farmers knew what fuckery Trump was going to unleash, but they were sure that like in the first term, Trump would shovel cash to them by the dump truck loads, and boy howdy did they want the easing of environmental restrictions, the ability to treat H2A visa holders like slaves, and because even small family farmers are quite wealthy (those Trucks they buy ain't cheap) they were all in on the Big Bastardy Bill.

No, they were all in, and they voted for their interests (she also points out that people think of farmers as working class, and they just aren't) and now that Trump will never need their votes again, they are crying. Bailouts haven't happened yet, and all the other benefits are not kicking in.

Anyhow, this relatively short video is worth the watch.
