TFG: Brett Kavanaugh

TFG: Brett Kavanaugh
From the WaPo

I opened the WaPo this morning and I thought I had accidentally navigated to The Onion. What did I see?

Headling from The Washington Post

Surely this is satirical? Right? RIGHT? (gifted link)

Alas, no, he was being serious:

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Supreme Court Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh on Thursday emphasized the importance of an independent judiciary, calling that “the crown jewel of our constitutional democracy.”

Judges and attorneys alike have a role in “maintaining a consistent and principled rule of law throughout the United States,” Kavanaugh said.

This was followed by this hi-LAR-ious paragraph providing some of the mid reporting that has become the custom at the Post:

During the hour-long discussion, Kavanaugh praised the trial judges in the crowd for doing “an extremely difficult job.” The justice said he pays attention to public responses to the high court’s rulings and that judges need to learn from “responsible critiques” of their actions and opinions.

In this, he's not wrong, the trial judges have done well, ruling against the Trump administration close to 90 percdnt of the time. That's good.

But, then when these cases appear at the Supreme Court, they are overturned about 85% of the time. In fact, it more than seems like 6 of the justices are in the tank for any ol' bullshit Trump and his merry band of minions are up to.

Whilst the three Liberal justices pen effective and scathing dissents, they have no power, and the hopes that in the last term that Amy Coney-Barrett was going to be a semi-rliable swing vote with CJ Roberts is well and fully dashed. The court is now 100% MAGAfied.

Kegstand takes a break from his swilling of Olympia beer from his kegerator long enough to let dribble out this:

“Most people are not reading our opinions,” Kavanaugh said. “They are reading someone else’s description of our opinions, and I think it’s important for maintaining public confidence in the judiciary and the Supreme Court to know how the opinions are being conveyed and received and understood by the American people.”

Uh, sorry dude, I have read the opinions where they are published, but you chuckle-fucks are doing so much heavy lifting with the shadow docket, without any explanation, we are left wondering which testicle of yours Trump has in his man-purse. Ironically (not) Justice Kagan talked about this in one of her public events:

Kagan chided the Supreme Court’s conservative majority — which includes Kavanaugh, who was nominated by Trump during his first term — for not doing more to explain itself in high-profile emergency rulings siding with the administration

And the formal cases, with writted decisions? Your reasoning is scattershot, avoids the core issue, and is often splitting tbe baby, but tossing both halves to the wolves.

The SCOTUS has lost credibility, and it is clear that Brett Kavanaugh and his frat-boy buddies Alito and Thomas are all in on the maximal MAGA experience. For that, Brett K is this week's "This Fucking Guy"

Of course, the Post tries really hard to remain neutral, to maintain their access, so fuck them running too.
